Adding Value to Regional Communities
Our company management believes in the importance of adding value to the regional communities in which many of our bridges are supplied. We enjoy working with local companies to help create opportunities for the transfer of knowledge, experience and skills to the local people, bringing long-term benefit to our clients.
Our Approach
In addition to ensuring that we deliver to the highest quality standards on every project, our planning also considers how we can best deliver our projects to ensure sustainability for both the environment and the local community.
Caring for the Environment
United Pacific Bridging is committed to ensuring the projects we undertake with our partners are carried out with minimal impact on the environment.
We work with highly trained environmentalists on each major project who are responsible for implementing measures to prevent environmental damage and establish environmentally sound work practices.
They work closely with senior management to create a culture throughout the entire project whereby protection of the environment is forefront in everything we do.
We follow all general rules of good behaviour in relation to the environment, for example, in the protection of flora and fauna, waste disposal, responsible use of land and efficient water utilisation.
While working within local communities, our project team members are conscious of their responsibility as environmental leaders and role models
One of our main goals is to share our expertise, knowledge and experience with the local population, providing training in a range of areas.
Our project management approach provides opportunities for local members of the community to be actively involved.
We create valuable job opportunities for the local workforce and encourage participation of local contractors and residents of population centres, including unskilled jobs such as vegetation control, construction support and cleaning.
Caring for the Local Community and its People
When working abroad it is always one of our main goals to encourage the local community to be as much a part of the project as possible as our experience is that a strong sense of ownership and engagement is important for the long-term success of any infrastructure project.
Communication plans are developed to ensure input is invited from various stakeholders and their needs are considered in the initial planning stages and beyond.
We create valuable job opportunities for the local workforce and encourage participation of local contractors and residents of population centres, including unskilled jobs such as vegetation control, construction support and cleaning.
Through our training and workshop programs for the locals living within a project’s catchment area, we aim to:
- Share and impart technical know-how, and assist local community members with upgrading their various job skills
- Practise and encourage environmentally friendly work ethics and healthy living habits
- Provide an understanding and appreciation of the importance of workplace health & safety
